The goal was ambitious: help Affinity Water save 21 million litres of water (that’s 140 cups of tea a day!) from 1.8 million households. Hopper dived straight in (sorry, had to be done).

The idea.. SOS: Save Our Streams

Changing behaviour with a conscience led approach. Built around the threat to the globally rare chalk streams in the Affinity Water region (more endangered than the Bengal Tiger)

“SOS. Save Our Streams”: A movement to save our precious chalk streams from the brink by helping people find ways to waste less water.

Working with Pier, Revolt and Wier, as well as a range of specialist agencies, the campaign was bold and unlike anything the water utility industry had ever seen before.

Tubitha takes to the road

The integrated campaign included regional media, CRM, door drops, radio ads written and directed by comedy writer David Schneider, as well as targeted social ads.

But the big splash was a big bath…named Tubitha!

An enormous, oversized bathtub, sat within a realistic stream environment with a huge tap pumping running water into her (you get the message, right!?)

A stop-and-stare moment through which to engage people in a conversation about water use, how they can help reduce waste and save our streams.

Over the summer we visited towns and cities across the Southeast. We spoke to thousands of people, met MP’s  and Mayors, and even made it onto ITV News.

Oh, and we put Sandi Toksvig in a river!

To raise awareness (and water levels) we also put former ‘Bake Off’ and QI host Sandi Toksvig in the River Chess to host a ‘world first’ by headlining a stand-up comedy gig from within a chalk stream (Galoshes!)

Compered by comedian, author and sports pundit Mark Watson, the event also featured Eshaan Akbar and Helen Arney, (with booking and comedy production by our funny friends at Mighty Bunny).
