Clarion Communications and Hopper were tasked with creating a festive fanfare around Aldi’s new quirky Christmas offering.

Something that would capture the imagination of consumers across the nation; an activation that placed the sheer enjoyment of Christmas cuisine at its heart; a campaign that would fill column inches and content feeds (as well as Aldi shopping trolleys).

The idea? The Aldi Pigs in Blankets Restaurant.

One of the most loved treats of the festive plate, the Pig in Blanket was our hero (400 million are eaten each Christmas!) Focusing the campaign on this star of the show felt as natural as wrapping a sausage in a piece of tasty bacon.

A bottomless bacon-wrapped extravaganza

At Aldi’s Pigs in Blankets Restaurant, diners dived into a bottomless bacon-wrapped extravaganza (there were vegan options too!)

Not only were there seven courses of sensational sausage selections…tables also had a “Press for PIBs” button if they wanted even more.

The experience cost just £5 with all money going to Aldi’s charity partner, Neighbourly.

Guests left with full stomachs, big smiles and a warm (meaty or vegan) glow.

Sending season’s greetings far and wide

The PR team sold out the pre-bookings within a day!

The media and influencer launch night was a sparkling success. We appeared on Channel 4, BBC, Capital Radio, Metro, Mail and Mirror.

To add to the festive fun, the media flocked to see the World’s Longest Pig In Blanket (a whopping six metres long!)

…it was so good we did it again the year after!
